Clay Cook - Prioritizing the Resilience and Well-Being of the Adults to Get to Outcomes for Students
Educators and community members alike are concerned about how the pandemic has negatively impacted student outcomes. However, report after report reveals that educator stress, burnout, and turnover have reached concerning levels. There is a need for school leaders to prioritize the well-being and resilience of educators in order to get to outcomes for students. Educators cannot self-care their way out of the current situation. This work needs to go beyond self-care and get at the root causes that are undermining educator well-being and resilience. This keynote will reinforce the critical role that building leaders play to activate solutions that prioritize the well-being, resilience, and engagement of one of the most precious resources in our schools – our educators. It will also provide resources and examples of effective approaches schools are taking to prioritize the needs of educators while also maintaining a relentless focus on promoting desired outcomes for students.
