How to Build, Influence, and Support a Positive School Culture

Creating a positive school culture is the foundation of any school. 

We all want to walk into our schools knowing that we have a positive culture for students and staff to learn and grow but how do we get everyone committed to the work? Many of our schools might provide a positive school climate for some of our students and staff, but it is our job to make sure we move past a positive climate and ensure we build a positive culture for learning and teaching for ALL. Join us as we learn around a framework that will support us in this process and help give our teachers and students a leadership role in the journey.

Who should attend?
This session is for school leaders who are looking for strategies and a framework that will support their work around school culture. This session is designated for school leaders only to support a safe space for you to ask questions openly and problem-solve with the group.

Session learning targets:

Over the past 12 years, Mr. Slater has had the chance to train more than 400 schools around creating a positive school culture. These trainings did not just support licensed staff, he has had the chance to work with bus drivers, administrative assistants, school lunch staff, custodians, and community education. Slater asserts that every adult that works in a school plays a vital role in this process. If we want to create a positive culture and climate in our schools, we need to take the time to teach the skills that adults will need in the process.
