2010 Division Leadership Award, C. Bennice Young
C. Bennice Young, principal at Elizabeth Hall International Elementary School, was nominated for the Minneapolis MESPA Division Leadership Achievement Award by her peers. The award honors principals whose exemplary leadership and sustained efforts have made noteworthy contributions to the operation of effective school learning programs --  improving education, their communities, and their profession.

In her principalship, Young follows the philosophy of a favorite quote: “Obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off your goals.” 

According to colleagues, Young: “exhibits excellent leadership skills.  She has the knowledge, experience, organizational skills, communication skills, and problem solving skills necessary to be an effective leader.”
