Parent Involvement Program, Mary Hanson presentation, 4/4/08

A Most Successful Parent Involvement Program!

presented by Mary Hanson, Principal, Madelia Public Schools

Minnesota Association of School Administrators Spring Conference
April 4, 2008  11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

This session focused on how to prepare and run a successful family reading night. Strategies and ideas that have proved successful were shared with participants.

In Mary's words: "My presentation was on Successful Family Nights. I usually have between 150-200 people at my family nights. A principal from Northfield said he usually has 4 people!  (I know how many I have because I set the tables, etc!!)  I did comment to the group of superintendents who attended my session that I was somewhat surprised because the superintendent is not usually the hands-on person for family nights. Therefore, I talked a lot about what they could do to support family nights, the research and rationale, etc. along with some practical ideas they could take back to their district."
