Focus Session Proposals
The Minnesota Elementary School Principals’ Association (MESPA) is accepting proposals for focus sessions to be presented at the 2011 MESPA Institute -- our annual statewide convention held February 9-11, 2011 at the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel, Bloomington, MN.

The Institute 2011 theme is “MESPA Loves to Read.”  We are seeking proposals for concurrent 60-minute focus sessions to be offered on Thursday, February 10, 2011. (The schedule of breakout sessions will be set in October 2010.)

The proposals should fit into one of three strands on the role of the principal in increasing student achievement via:
  • Literacy
  • Reading Improvement/Intervention ( RtI)
  • Neuroscience (how reading is taught; innovative brain concepts)
We are seeking a broad spectrum of practical approaches to these concepts.

For complete details on submitting an electronic proposal, scroll down to the InstituteRFP below.  Please submit an electronic proposal with the following information by September 1, 2010 to ogault@mespa.net
  1. Presenter contact information: name, address, phone, e-mail.
  2. Session title
  3. Corresponding strand: from above list
  4. Session type: lecture, group discussion, panel, etc.
  5. Session overview with learning outcomes (what key items will principals attending this session learn): maximum 250 words
  6. Description for program (description as it would appear in convention program; please include  presenter’s preferred professional title): maximum 50 words
  7. Presenter bio (brief bio for session introduction)
  8. AV needs: If requested, MESPA can provide flipchart, overhead projector, screen.
Presenters must provide their own laptop computers and LCD projectors.
Proposals are due in the MESPA office by September 1, 2010. They will be reviewed by the MESPA Educational Advisory Committee. They will be evaluated for relevance to the above strands, quality, potential to fulfill current topical interest, and balance across session topics. Submissions will receive a response from MESPA by October 20, 2010.
