P. Fred Storti, MESPA Executive Director

P. Fred Storti
has been Executive Director of the Minnesota Elementary School Principals’ Association (MESPA) since 2002.

Prior to assuming this position of statewide and national advocacy, he gained 27 years of experience as a principal/superintendent in Minnesota urban, suburban, and rural schools.

In his broad stewardship for elementary and middle level principals, Storti also serves:
  • as chair of the NAESP Executive Directors – the national elementary and middle level principal association;
  • on several statewide committees including: the Alliance for Student Achievement and the P-20 Committee; and
  • on the Ready 4K Board of Directors.
With the vision to “be the premiere resource for preparing today’s principals for tomorrow and a strong leading voice for public education,” MESPA has been the professional association of Minnesota’s elementary and middle level principals since 1950. It supports 950 members with: professional development for professional leaders, legal and legislative advocacy, communications customized to the professional needs of education leaders, and the Minnesota School of Excellence Program grounded in national standards. MESPA is affiliated with the National Association of Elementary School Principals and its 29,500 members nationwide.

Storti received a Bachelor of Science in elementary education, a Master of Science, and Specialist degrees from Minnesota State University, Winona, MN.

His first principalship was in Byron, Minnesota – where he served as MESPA Southeast Division President. After 10 years he went to the Roseville district. In 1996, he implemented the Tri-District School and East Metro Integration District 6067, partnered with the University of St. Thomas Collaborative Urban Educators’ Program.

Other than MESPA seminars, Storti states the Bush Principals’ Leadership  Program and IBM Executive Educator Program as significant professional development opportunities.

In addition to his passion and advocacy for student learning and the principalship, he is an avid bicycle racer.
