MESPA's annual Leadership Conference is the best way for MESPA leaders to kick off a new year! This conference brings together MESPA's committee members, division presidents & presidents-elect, as well as MESPA state officers and staff. Together, this incredible group of leaders will plan and discuss the best ways to support MESPA members throughout the year. The Leadership Conference is a great opportunity to strategize, network, and also have some fun!

Our 2019 Conference will be held on September 22-23 at Breezy Point in Pequot Lakes, MN. All MESPA leaders are expected to attend this great conference!


Keynote by Principal Curtis Slater: Are you Comfortable in Your Shoes?

Principal Curtis Slater (@Slater_Curtis_) will kick our conference off on Sunday with a keynote on building culture and community.

Mr. Slater was the Minnesota 2018 NAESP National Distinguished Principal (NDP) and had the chance to work and collaborate with NDPs from around the country in Washington, D.C. Curt is passionate about sharing best practices and innovative ideas that are working for all. Over the past 12 years, Mr. Slater has had the chance to train and work with more than 400 schools around creating a positive school culture. His trainings do not just support licensed staff; he has had the chance to work with bus drivers, administrative assistants, school lunch staff, custodians, and community education. Curt believes every adult who works in a school plays a vital role in the process. If we want a positive culture and climate in our schools, we need to take the time to teach the skills that adults will need in the process.

Meals
Sunday lunch and dinner are provided by MESPA. Monday breakfast is included for those staying on-site overnight.

Conference Attire
Conference attire is casual! Be sure to show your school spirit on Sunday!

MESPA is able to reimburse you for 1/2 of one night at Breezy: September 22 plus mileage in one direction. If you and a colleague share a room, MESPA will reimburse you for the full cost of a standard room. The reimbursement form is linked here: PDF or Word. Carpooling is encouraged!

Board Meeting Details

The MESPA Board of Directors consists of MESPA's Executive Committee, Division Presidents and Presidents-Elect, and Committee Chairs.

Mark your calendars: Our first Board Meeting of the 2019-20 year happens at the end of the Leadership Conference on Monday, September 22 at 12:00pm. Lunch is provided for all Board Members.

Join us for a round of Sunday morning golf! Watch your September stress melt away and have a bit of early morning fun with other MESPA members on the golf course!

Not an expert? No worries! All skill levels are welcome. Flashy prizes for trying your best, including highest pars, most missed shots, and more!

Tee times begin at 7:10am (staggered every 10 mins until 7:50am) at the beautiful Traditional Golf Course located on Breezy Point's campus. Please indicate your interest on your registration form and we will contact you with final details. Please RSVP to Tim Bell (tbell@priorlake-savage.k12.mn.us).

A small fee ~$25 will be due on-site at the golf course.

Calling all Division Presidents:

Please remember to prepare your Division Planning Doc prior to the Leadership Conference and update the doc with changes after the conference. Division meetings will be held on Monday morning! Find your Division's Planning Doc at www.mespa.net/Leadership-Materials.

Important Note for Committee Chairs

Be sure to review your Committee Planning Docs prior to attending the conference and update with any changes. Committee meetings are held on Sunday afternoon! All Committee Materials are at mespa.net/Leadership-Materials.
