The Family Project at Family and Children's Service is
a strengths-based
initiative that engages disadvantaged parents in coming together to
promote the health, safety, and success of their children. The Family
Project builds positive peer support networks among low-income families
facing challenges, and helps parents build stronger families and
parenting skills through these social support networks. We work with
schools to help parents become equal partners with school staff and
teachers in their child's education by advancing parents' skills and
knowledge in how to support the academic and overall development of
their children. Consider bringing your school staff to The Family Project Basics: A
six-hour training for parents, volunteers and staff in schools and
communities that are wanting to learn The Family Project model,
including strategies for successfully engaging parents and increasing
parent leadership. For information contact:Laurie
