 | | P. Fred Storti, MESPA Executive Direcctor | P. Fred Storti, executive director of the Minnesota Elementary School Principals’ Association (MESPA) since 2002, brings 27 years of leadership experience as principal/superintendent in Minnesota urban, suburban, and rural schools to his current position of statewide and national advocacy. In his broad stewardship for elementary and middle level principals, he also serves as: chair of the NAESP/NASSP Executive Directors – the national elementary and secondary principal associations; chair of the Structure Committee, Alliance for Student Achievement – Minnesota’s alliance of 16 education organizations with the purpose of speaking with one voice on pre K-12 education policies and issues to improve student achievement in Minnesota; and serves on the Ready 4K Board of Directors.
With the vision to “be the premiere resource for preparing today’s principals for tomorrow and a strong leading voice for public education,” MESPA has been the professional association of Minnesota’s elementary and middle level principals since 1950. It supports nearly 1,000 members with: professional development for professional leaders, legal and legislative advocacy, communications customized to the professional needs of education leaders, and the Minnesota School of Excellence Program grounded in national standards. MESPA is affiliated with the National Association of Elementary School Principals and its 29,500 members nationwide.
Storti received a Bachelor of Science in elementary education, a Master of Science, and Specialist degrees from Minnesota State University, Winona, MN. Storti implemented the Tri-District School and East Metro Integration District 6067, partnered with the University of St. Thomas Collaborative Urban Educators’ Program (CUE), and participated in the Bush Principals Leadership Program. In addition to his passion and advocacy for student learning and the principalship, he is an avid bicycle racer.
