Public school principals are nominated by peers in their home
states, and the final selection for each state's NDP is made by the
NAESP state affiliate with a selection committee.
January 5, 2009: Nomination forms are due in the MESPA office, indicating the intent to submit a completed application by January 26, 2009.
January 26, 2009:
Completed applications due in the MESPA office, with the requisite
reference forms and two professional photos. (Incomplete or late
application or missing documents will disqualify the applicant.) February 3, 2009:
Selection Committee meets and selects three finalists. (The committee
is comprised of MESPA's 12 Division Presidents and the most recent NDP;
Jean Clark, the MESPA NAESP State Representative serves as the NDP
Selection Committee chair.)
May 1, 2009: The Selection Committee interviews the finalists and selects the 2008 MESPA National Distinguished Principal.
Fall 2009: NAESP ceremonies and awards held in Washington D.C.
