Bus Tragedy in Cottonwood, MN

We are so saddened by the tragic death and injury of students in the school bus accident in Cottonwood, MN on February 19.  We know the families, school staff, and community around Cottonwood are experiencing great grief.  They are in our thoughts and prayers, and we hope they know that as an association, MESPA stands ready to support them in any way we can.

Our statewide MESPA president, Richard Oscarson, the presidents of our 12 MESPA divisions, and I decided to begin reaching out by sending $1200 to Cottonwood Elementary from MESPA ($100 from each division) -- for the school to use however it needs in working to heal their school community.

Also, a bank in Cottonwood has established a memorial fund for the families of the four students killed in the bus crash. Contributions to the fund can be sent to: Lakeview School Memorial Fund, C/O United Southwest Bank,  P.O. Box 288, Cottonwood, MN 56229-0288.

For more information on the students and community, visit the Lakeview Schools Web site at www.lakeview2167.com/
