(January 20, 2012 -- Arlington, VA)  The NAESP Nominating Committee met today to review and select the nominees for NAESP President-elect and Zone Directors for Zones 5,  7,  and 9 for the 2012 election. The following individuals have been nominated:
 
President-elect:

The results are in and  MESPA is proud.

Our own Steven Geis has been elected NAESP Zone 7 Director! His term on the NAESP Board will run 7/1/12 - 6/30/15.

And Nancy Flatt Meador (Madison, TN) is the incoming NAESP President-Elect.




Zone 7 Director Candidates
The Zone 7 Director sits on the NAESP Board and has responsibility for representing the interests of the following states: Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota.

"The role of the Zone 7 Director is becoming more important -- for education is urgently in need of advocates at the state and national level," said Geis.  "My vision for the directorship is summarized in the word Communications. The director is a national liaison to each of the states represented."

"I possess contagious enthusiasm for the principalship!" said Geis. "If elected, I will bring tireless energy, enthusiasm, leadership, and professionalism to the position. These attributes have resulted in many educational and leadership opportunities, including:

Tim Doran is the other candidate for Zone 7 Director selected by the NAESP Nominating Committee.

Doran,  principal of Denali Elementary in Fairbanks, AK, was named the National Distinguished Principal for 2011 by the Alaska Association of Elementary School Principals.Doran has served as principal at Denali Elementary for 19 years. He previously was principal in Unalakleet and Teller. He was a teacher at Anthony Andrews School in St. Michaels, Alaska, and superintendent at St. Mary’s Catholic School in St. Mary’s, Alaska.



Mission: The Minnesota Elementary School Principals' Association is dedicated to promoting and improving education for children and youth, strengthening the role as educational leader for elementary and middle level principals, and collaborating with partners in education to assist in achieving these goals.
