Join literacy gurus Bonnie Houck and Sandi Novak for a Book & Breakfast session and learn more about how to ensure high-quality reading instruction using the Literacy Classroom Visit (LCV) Model. Bring a copy of your Literacy Unleashed book and your experiences using the LCV instructions and collaborate with colleagues about how to develop a culture of literacy in your school!

CLICK HERE to purchase the Literacy Unleashed book & begin reading!

Bonnie and Sandi will facilitate the discussion to enable participants to:

  • Share what you know about your current literacy culture and how the Literacy Classroom Visit might enhance your school environment.
  • Describe how the Literacy Classroom Visit Model compares with other walkthroughs, observations or classroom visits used in your school or district.
  • Think about how adept you are as an instructional leader at identifying the components of balanced literacy instruction and the gradual release of responsibility in a classroom, and what resources you might need to strengthen this knowledge and skills
  • Explain how the Literacy Classroom Visit Model can support and extend your district's strategic plan, literacy improvement plan, or professional learning plan
5 CEUs are offered for reading the book and attending the discussion. While it is not necessary to read the book cover-to-cover, a general understanding of the book will help you engage. Please purchase the book separately.

Who can attend? All are welcome to attend this session (even if you are not attending Institute) but space is limited and registering in advance is needed!
