of Education’s (MDE) Safe and Drug Free Schools program will present
workshops around the state to review the Safe Schools DVD and
discussion guide, and discuss data practices issues between school, law
enforcement and mental health service providers. Participants will
review the DVD and discussion Guide, and outline ways to use the
training materials in their own districts with their emergency response
partners.
School district staff, including Safe and Drug Free School
coordinators, student support staff, school administrators, school
safety directors community mental health staff and local law
enforcement and emergency managers are encouraged to attend. The
sessions will be facilitated by MDE Safe and Drug Free Schools Staff,
Nancy Riestenberg, MDE Violence Prevention Specials and member of the
MSSC staff and Wade Setter, Director of MSSC.
There will be a Safe and Drug Free Schools program-sharing meeting
prior to the workshop, from 8:-9:00 at each site. Please indicate if
you will be attending that session in addition to the workshop on your
registration. Updates on the status of the federal Title IV SDFS bill
will be presented.
