RtI DATA RETREAT
(For a registration flyer, scroll to the bottom of the page.)
Energize Strategic Principal and Team Leadership: delivering achievement for all students
Co-sponsored by: Minnesota Elementary School Principals' Association TIES Education Technology Collaborative Minnesota Response to Intervention Center
What is the RtI Data Retreat? Response to Intervention (RtI) is a 3 - tiered model of support: 1. high quality instruction 2. frequent measurement 3. problem solving to match interventions with student needs
The
goal is student progress and success for all students. RtI rests on a
foundation of strong core instruction for all students, with targeted
supports for some, and intensive supports for a few.
Essentially, RtI is a framework to organize all work in
education. RtI combines a problem solving process with data collection
and data usage, integrally tying them to instructional delivery. In
this two-day retreat designed for
school teams, participants will learn how to use data effectively to
improve achievement for all students in their schools:
-
Establish data literacy skills needed to implement an effective RtI model.
-
Learn how to determine the degree to which students are on track to pass high stakes tests.
-
Use their own school’s data to determine which students need the most focus.
-
Develop an RtI action plan for their building.
Presented by national RtI experts:
Kim Gibbons, Ph.D. Executive Director, St. Croix River Education District (SCRED) SCRED has received national recognition for its use of RTI systems, as well as legislative appropriation to fund the Minnesota Response to Intervention Center. Dr. Gibbons is a sought-after consultant offering workshops throughout the state of MN and nationally. | What is RtI? | Is RtI right for your school? Have you got four minutes to listen to a podcast?
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "What is RtI?" This four-minute podcast from Dr. Ann Casey, executive director of the Minnesota Response to Intervention Center, was developed to help teams prepare for the MESPA RtI Data Retreat. (This podcast will be sent with your confirmation after a team registers -- along with two additional podcasts from Dr. Benjamin Silberglitt, a readiness packet, and several articles with vital RtI background information.)
While explaining the levels of RtI and how it works in a school, Casey clarifies that: "RtI is not another initiative. It is not a program or curriculum. It is a framework -- a framework for school improvement and student achievement. Foundational to RtI is using data to make instructional decisions."
