MESPA NDP Selection Process and Timeline
Public school principals are nominated by peers in their home states, and the final selection for each state's NDP is made by the NAESP state affiliate with a selection committee.

January 5, 2009: Nomination forms are due in the MESPA office, indicating the intent to submit a completed application by January 26, 2009.

January 26, 2009: Completed applications due in the MESPA office, with the requisite reference forms and two professional photos. (Incomplete or late application or missing documents will disqualify the applicant.)

February 3, 2009: Selection Committee meets and selects three finalists. (The committee is comprised of MESPA's 12 Division Presidents and the most recent NDP; Jean Clark, the MESPA NAESP State Representative serves as the NDP Selection Committee chair.)

May 1, 2009: The Selection Committee interviews the finalists and selects the 2008 MESPA National Distinguished Principal.

Fall 2009: NAESP ceremonies and awards held in Washington D.C.
