January 23, 2009
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Lifetouch Headquarters
Eden Prairie

Lunch:  Bring your lunch or buy lunch at the LifeTouch cafeteria.  Please RSVP and let me know if you plan to buy lunch so I can let Lifetouch know how many to expect in the cafeteria that day.

Our speaker will be Liesl Chatman, the Science Museum of Minnesota Director of Professional Development.  At the SMM, Liesl has initiated:
  • the Science House: A Resource Center for Educators;
  • Nexus, a professional development program specifically designed for district level science coordinators;
  • and the newly funded Materials and Understanding for STEM Educators in Minnesota, which is a k-12 statewide initiative with funding from the Minnesota State Legislature.
Liesl will be presenting STEM implementation ideas and discussing STEM materials available through the SMM.

Please let me know if you have specific questions regarding STEM, and I will get the questions to her before she speaks. Also, if you have an area of interest you would like her to speak about, let me know that too.

Ms. Chatman shared two excellent opportunities with me that are available for elementary generalists and specialists during the summer of 2008: "From Engagement to Understanding." They are provided at no charge. If any of your staff is interested in checking out classes, please direct them to the Science Museum Web site.

To RSVP, and if you have any questions, please contact:
