 | | David Craft, principal of Greenvale Park Elementary, Northfield | Educational philosophy: “I’ve never met a man, no matter how exalted his station, who did not do better work, and put forth more effort, under a spirit of approval than under a spirit of criticism.” (Charles Schwab)
Most significant career accomplishments: “Six years ago I made it through my first year as a principal." “I received an e-mail from a former 5th grade student who attended Iowa State University. A professor asked her to write about a teacher who made a different in her life. She wrote that she was bored in math class until I began meeting with her to teach her algebra. For practice, I had her test out of each unit and then I differentiated her curriculum based on her ability. Turns out she had a full ride to Iowa based on her math aptitude. I’m very proud of her.”
“As an ongoing accomplishment, I strive to sustain quality programming by providing the time and resources for meaningful professional development for my staff.” Past recognitions: MESPA division president-elect and president, Negotiations committee representative; Runner-up Teacher of the Year, Minneapolis Public Schools; Minneapolis Award for Innovative Teaching.
