Hazelden and Clemson University present an evidence-based online course on bullying.

BULLYING 101  (Course DL132)

This two hour course gives up-to-date, evidence based information about bullying and cyber bullying and how to effectively address them. Employing extensive use of video, interactive elements, and case studies to create an engaging experience, this course will address the learner outcomes listed below.

Learner Outcomes
  • At the completion of this course, learners will be able to:
  • Define bullying and the different types of bullying that occur.
  • Describe the prevalence of bullying in general and by grade, gender, and special characteristics of students (ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, and so on).
  • Identify the short- and long-term consequences for students who are bullied and for students who bully others.
  • Describe the characteristics of students who are bullied and students who bully others.
  • Describe ineffective approaches to address the issue of bullying.
  • Describe best practices that research has shown to be most effective in addressing bullying.
  • Demonstrate how those best practices can be applied in a school setting, using the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program as one example.
