Olson-Skog was nominated by
Andrew Fields, principal at Lake Elmo Elementary in the Stillwater Public
Schools, who stated: “In the 2009-2010 school year Peter Olson-Skog took a risk
by allowing a local newspaper to document his school’s journey through
Adequately Yearly Progress (AYP). Not only did Peter raise public awareness of
the challenges public schools face, he also approached the topic as a
challenge, an opportunity for growth. In the end, Carver’s story had a happy
ending. Carver Elementary students made great improvement and the school made
adequate yearly progress. Peter’s exemplary leadership and accomplishments
represent his school and our profession extremely positively.”
